Meditation & relaxation
The practice of meditation and relaxation go hand in hand and are extremely similar. They both encompass forms of limiting distractions and focusing one’s thoughts and actions to a point of clarity. And in each modality of focusing one’s thoughts there is no one right, nor wrong way of doing so. There are multiple ways of meditation and relaxation.
The 2 basic forms of meditation are concentrative and mindfulness meditations. However, be aware that meditation can be many other aspects of your experience. Concentrative meditation focuses on a specific; your breathing, a word, an image, a mantra, to reach a higher state of being. Mindfulness is actually a state of being, which allows the individual to be present in the now, even while distractions and stimuli are ongoing concurrently. Mindfulness meditation focuses on bringing your mind back to the now, while your thoughts are coming and going, and racing about. Other aspects and forms of meditation, as mentioned above, can be a walk in nature, a loving gesture or kind word, a moment of selfless love or act toward another human being.
Meditation and relaxation is a practice that has exponential health benefits already proven from a scientific level. Whichever style, technique or modality works for you must be found and cultivated. Meditation DECREASES stress, sadness, anxiety and fears while it INCREASES feelings of happiness, patience, energy and love.
Grounding
Grounding is a practice of connecting the self, or physical body to the earth. Sitting on the ground with the hands and/or feet touching the earth in any fashion is considered grounding. Wearing shoes does not count as grounding, because rubber insulates, and disrupts the transfer of electrical energy to and from the earth to our bodies. If you understand electricity and in particular how electricity functions, you will know that rubber does not conduct electricity period.
Grounding, a.k.a. “earthing”, is another synonymous term used interchangeably. The idea of grounding has been around for thousands of years and was practiced and taught by the Essene Jews. The Essene Jews walked daily without sandals as to be grounded to the earth. This practice has significant health benefits to reduce inflammation and stress. Over 20 verified scientific studies have already proven that grounding can reduce inflammation in the human body by as much as 60-70%!
Grounding has also shown benefits to mental and emotional health and well-being. It creates emotional stability, and calms and clarifies the mind. Grounding is also a form of meditation/relaxation. On average a human being does not ground themselves once in day, nor once in a week…how many times have you been grounded to the earth this week? Grounding is modality that many do not incorporate into their lives and do not realize the importance to the vitality of the human body! Where did your body come from initially…? Mother Earth;)
